Overview
The Little Prince is perfectly situated in the heart of the village on the road to the beach – about five or so minutes to walk even in flip-flops. Sheltered from the breeze, it was built to very high standards in 2003. It has 27 studios and 2 two-bed roomed apartments. If you’ve ever struggled to get through a narrow gap between the bed and the cooker, you won’t find it here. These rooms are BIG. The studios have a generous kitchen space and a table you can sit at. They have high ceilings, and they feel cool. Every room has a balcony. They all have (optional) air conditioning and double-glazing. You don’t need to padlock your wallet to your shorts, because every room has a safe deposit box. The rooms are cleaned every day, there’s plenty of hot water, and apartments even have a bath as well as a shower. If you’re feeling the need for a bit of TV there’s a free satellite feed to all the rooms and apartments, all of which have a big kitchen/diner area, with cooker including grill/oven, a variety of pans, and a kettle. And you don’t have to force a hair-dryer into your baggage, because there’s a big powerful one in every room.
There’s a lift to all floors, plus ramps, making it a great place if you need wheel-chair access. There’s a pool on the first floor level above the bar which is perfectly positioned for shelter from the breeze, has great views, and you can order just about anything to eat or drink.
But Little Prince isn’t just a place to sleep. It has an elegant bar area, and a taverna serving superb Greek and international food. You can get anything from a huge breakfast to one of the daily high-value specials. It’s a family business, and Dimitris, Pippina, and Mikhalis make you feel like you’re part of the family within minutes. Many of the recipes they use they swear they got from their Grandma. Grandma was obviously a great cook!
Not only do they serve wonderful food, taxing enough as it is, every evening they get up and dance. This is genuine Corfiot stuff, and when Dimitris and Pippina do the snake dance you get a real feel for Greek passion and soul. Rivers of fire run between the tables, and flaming tables are hoisted into the air by the power of teeth alone!
Little Prince is a great base for exploring the beautiful landscape of North West Corfu. From here, in easy reach, are the pretty villages of Arrilas, Avliotes, and Peroulades. You can venture out to the offshore islands of Mathraki, Othoni and Erekusa. You can take a short bus trip to bustling Sidari, the cliff-hanging beauty of Paeleokastritsa, or the pretty harbour at Kassiopi. You can ride in the olive groves on horseback, hire a small boat to explore hidden coves and beaches, get a car, quad bike, or beach buggy and meander up the scenic roads and tracks to visit ancient villages like Afionas. You can take a steep and bracing, but short, walk onto the headland and have a drink at an elegant bar with great views. Or you can just lie on the beach or by the pool and soak up the sun.
Book as early as you can, because people really do come back here year after year. They make friends for life and meet up with again. Once you’ve been, you’ll know why.
