Mon Repo Palace

Mon Repos is a villa located 3km from the center of Corfu Town.  The palace was built by the British Commissioner of Ionian Islands, Frederick Adam, in 1831 for the sake of his beloved wife Nina Palatianou.

The palace at times had hosted celebrities such as the legendary Empress Elisabeth of Austria or otherwise Princess Sissy. On the occasion of her stay in Corfu, Elizabeth built the Achilleion Palace. Here also was born the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth. Later, Mon Repos was the summer residence of King George I of Greece. The present time the villa and its gardens are the property of the Greek State and gate is open to all visitors.

Walking in Mon Repo

A walk in Mon Repo will be unforgettable, since a variety of trees and plants that among them there are paths of gravel and all this beauty create a dreamy landscape. In the middle of this great garden is the neoclassical palace that has a view the Ionian Sea. On the way to the beach of Mon Repos the visitor may encounter ruins of ancient Greek temples which is inestimable archaeological value and will make your walk more interesting. We strongly recommend to visitors this unique walk to the gardens and palace of Mon Repos.
