Kouloura is a picturesque small harbor northwest of Corfu, near the village of Kalami. The harbor is unique because created by the nature. Small boats and fishing boats find shelter there in the stormy winter days. In the summer the harbor is full of boats from visitors. Shortly above you will find the traditional tavern Kouloura and the small church of San Nicolas with the whitewashed walls (patron saint of sailors). The Kouloura harbor is ideal for a romantic walk with a great view to the Ionian Sea and the green hills of Corfu Island. This place is a favorite subject of photographers and visitors which are not miss an opportunity to photograph in their wake.
The Houhoulios is a small beach just opposite the harbor of Kouloura. The beach consists of small pebbles and blue crystal waters. The Houhoulios is the favorite place of local fishermen and divers because it is rich in fishes. A few meters from the coast are the ruins of the old Corfiot manor houses and along to the beach is filled of large trees that providing shade to the visitors. In these trees the people who passed from there have engraved their names.
